episode 294: fly fly fly

First day of my trip to China, gonna look forward to it. Well, it’s not Japan, but China’ll do for now.

You probably have seen this many times before. Yeah, the Changi Airport Control Tower. Taken when I was walking to the gate for boarding, at about 6.45 in the morning..

Took a photo of the plane while I was waiting to board it.

Slept during the plane flight. Well, I didn’t really sleep the night before. The in-flight entertainment system sucked anyway. My PSP and iPod touch’s more than enough to keep me entertained. xD

And this here is the picture of a statue I took at the airport.

Went for a late lunch afterwards. The food in the airport was not bad, and quite cheap too. Like, a full meal (complete with drinks and a light snack) for about 25 RMB ($5). You can’t really get that price in Singapore, unless you go hawker centres.

So this was what I ate. It’s some sort of Sichuan beef rice. It tasted quite good, but the fact that it was served on some aluminum box…made me feel kinda weird.

I finished lunch earlier than the rest of my family so I took the camera and just strolled to somewhere nearby. And started taking random photos.

Cheers?

I was like, “Isn’t that Cheers?” when I saw that. Maybe I’m wrong but still…hahaha.

So uh…this is China’s version of Watson? LOL.

Anyway, moving on…

After lunch we (me and my family) went to look for the bus to Suzhou…

Took us about half an hour cause we didn’t know where it was.

So here’s the bus to Suzhou.

Spotted something else too…

Fail spelling, common in China. xD

The bus ride took about 3 hours. The bus smelled kinda weird, but I guess most buses would have that. Slept on the bus as well, freakin’ tired.

And by the time we reached Suzhou, it was already almost 7 pm.

The bus stopped at some place (supposedly) near the hotel, and we didn’t have a clue how to get to the hotel with all that luggage, so we took a taxi back. 20 RMB only, so cheap. And the distance would’ve cost us more than $4 in Singapore.

So this’ the hotel, taken after I went to put my bags in the room and came out for dinner. It’s called Aster Hotel Suzhou (雅都饭店). The beds were big and the view was great.

Dinner was at this dumpling shop called “Da Niang Dumplings”. It tasted great, albeit a bit too oily for my liking.

Went to shop for groceries as well. Cup tea’s great, I kinda love the concept. Everything’s so cheap over at China, it’s like you can get a 600ml of Pepsi for 3 RMB (about SGD $0.60). So freakin’ cheap. Not sure if it’s real, though. Hope not.

I ended up buying 3 cups of cup tea. :D

Had strawberry-flavored cup tea for supper. Damn, the tea was great.

Tomorrow’ll be the first day we venture out to Suzhou territory. Hopefully I’ll be able to get more photos. And hopefully more shopping!

Okay, gonna sleep. Byes.
